RMG was engaged by Greater Western Water to project manage the Gisborne-Bacchus Marsh Road Water Main Replacement project.

The Gisborne-Bacchus Marsh Road water main was identified for an upgrade to ensure Greater Western Water can continue to provide service reliability for its customers and cater for future growth in the region. This work ensured:

  • Water main bursts were less likely, and better service reliability
  • Improved drinking water quality
  • Reduced maintenance and repair costs

The works included upgrading approximately 3km of an existing water main that ran along the roadside of Gisborne Road between Lerderderg-Gorge Road and the Bences Road tank site. The work involved replacing the current 80mm main, built over 40 years ago, with a new 125mm pipe. This involved using a combination of open cut trenching and trenchless technology to bore the new pipeline underground. Boring was used to ensure native vegetation wasn’t impacted by construction.

RMG worked together with Greater Western Water to realise the Gisborne Road Water Main Replacement project within tight project timeframes. RMG was able to achieve this by bringing together its expertise in Water Management to provide a holistic solution.
