Project Brief
As part of the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury program, RMG was engaged to support the delivery of essential improvement works on four rail bridges in Victoria’s North East: Wangaratta Station Precinct, Barnawartha North, Beaconsfield Parade in Glenrowan and Seymour-Avenel Road.
These projects aimed to improve safety, longevity, and structural performance on critical rail corridors.
Project Details
RMG provided compliance and surveillance inspection services to the Department of Transport and Planning (DoTP) across the four bridge sites, each with varied requirements. The works involved structural strengthening, modifications, pier upgrades and bridge widening to support increased rail capacity.
These activities took place in live rail environments and required careful planning, staging, and stakeholder coordination to ensure minimal disruption to local communities and transport networks.
Special considerations were given to heritage conservation in Glenrowan, and to maintaining pedestrian and vehicular access at the Wangaratta and Seymour sites.
Project Outcomes
RMG’s role was critical in ensuring Inland Rail works were delivered to the required standards while maintaining the integrity of the state road network.
The completion of the upgrades delivered significant safety and structural improvements across all four locations we were involved with. These upgrades extend the service life of key rail infrastructure while reducing long-term maintenance requirements.
The team’s expertise in navigating live transport environments and community-sensitive sites ensured works were completed efficiently with minimal disruption.
These upgrades have strengthened the network resilience in the region and reflect RMG’s ongoing commitment to delivering practical, engineered solutions that enhance critical transport infrastructure across Victoria.
