Project Brief
RMG provided project management support to the Department of Transport and Planning for the intersection upgrade of Wiltshire Lane/ La Trobe St intersection.
The project replaced a single lane roundabout with a duplicated signalised intersection and dedicated turning lanes, reducing traffic congestion and improving the safety of the intersection.
With a budget of $10 million, the project was completed in 2023.
Project Details
Situated in Ballarat’s western growth corridor, the existing intersection comprised of a single lane roundabout with insufficient capacity to meet the growing traffic demands from a mix of increased industrial and domestic traffic.
Construction was undertaken with staged upgrades which enabled traffic to continue to utilise the intersection with reduced road closures, minimising disruption to the community.
The works included construction of new road pavement, rehabilitation of existing pavement, installation of stormwater drainage, construction of traffic signals and public lighting.
Project Outcomes
The completion of the intersection upgrade has eased congestion and reduced commuter times for local residents. As well as allowing for continued future growth planned for the Ballarat region.
The completion of the project underscores RMG’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects efficiently and meeting the transportation needs of the community.
