City of Greater Bendigo, Ulumbarra Theatre – Project Management of Streetscape

The City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Senior Secondary College, together with State and Federal Government Ministers opened the $25.5 million Ulumbarra Theatre in April 2015.

Ulumbarra – meaning gather together or meeting place in the language of the Dja Dja Wurrung people is representative of the multi-disciplinary nature of the performing arts and learning complex, which has resulted in the gathering of a variety of spaces on the site.

A significant sub-project of the The Ulumbarra Theatre Project, was the Ulumbarra Theatre Streetscape Project, this Project Included:

  • The construction of architecturally designed landscapes
  • Construction of structural retaining walls
  • Installation of landscape plantings
  • Installation of decorative lighting
  • Provision of disabled access to the Ulumbarra Theatre
  • Construction of shared zones where vehicles and people integrate in the Ulumbarra Theatre precinct
  • Coordination of works with the Ulumbarra Theatre project to ensure both projects met the opening date
  • Coordination of impacted stakeholders whilst works occurred

The project relied on Regional Management Group’s ability to manage relationships with neighbouring construction works, Bendigo Senior Secondary College and neighbouring sporting organisations. Regional Management Group’s expertise in delivering outcomes during tight timeframes, and with multiple stakeholders was essential in delivering this iconic Bendigo Project on time.

The Ulumbarra Theatre Project utilised Regional Management Groups capabilities in:
